Some of the things we’ve been doing

We are really excited to try out the new 230 screens we have on the way in order to make our 2-colour print again, but in the mean time we’ve been up to a couple of other adventures.

There was a loss in our Tla-o-qui-aht community last week, and we wanted to make a print to be auctioned off in a fundraiser for the family. We stuck with the whale design we have done on the 110-mesh screen, but decided to make it a Remarque print instead of a two-colour silk screen print. We did a run of 50 prints, with the black silk-screened and the red hand-coloured.

We pulled 60 prints, and were able to finish with exactly 50 good final prints. There were a few issues with regards to pixelly lines (due to the 110-mesh we think), but overall we were really happy with it!

We put it on our Cedar House Gallery website and published it on social media, and we’ve sold about 15 so far. We did a little write up of the print too, to include when we ship them out. https://www.cedarhousegallery.com/prints-paintings/iituup-remarque-print-by-hjalmer-wenstob

We’ve also been working on a couple other projects, including a bid for a Welcome Sign for a Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations business, as well as a mask/movie in Nuu-chah-nulth to be released soon – we’ll share a link when it is available – but here’s a photo of our part of the process:
